Barkha Dutt and other media people are sold out - 2G Scam

word by word conversations

http://www.openthemagazine.com/article/nation/tell-me-what-should-i-tell-them

Analysis
http://countercurrents.org/mathew221110.htm

Some quotes

"It is in this context that the conversation between Barkha Dutt and Nira Radia assumes significance. Dutt claims that she was talking to Radia as part of her journalistic routine and Radia is only one of her sources. That may be true. But from the conversations it is evident that two of the biggest corporate houses in India were lobbying for a tainted person to be reinstated in the same ministry. Wasn't that news for her? Why didn't she go ahead and break the news? At one point she is heard saying " ‘What Do You Want Me To Tell Them (The Congress)? Tell Me. I'll talk To Them.'  Commentators and twitterers are accusing that Barkha was acting as a go between the corporate houses and the Congress. Barkha Dutt and NDTV, the organization where she is employed need a lot of explaining to do. Incidentally, Barkha Dutt is a Padmashri award winner. "

"In another conversation another reputed journalist Vir Sanghvi is heard saying “What kind of story do you want? Because this will go as Counterpoint, so it will be like most-most read, but it can't seem too slanted, yet it is an ideal opportunity to get all the points across.” This is in relation to a long standing dispute between Mukesh Ambani and his brother Anil Ambani over the gas pricing issue. The media watch websiteCountermedia.in has proved that Vir Sanghvi actually wrote a blog favouring Radia's boss Mukesh Ambani with the information hand fed by her. In other conversations Sanghvi is heard discussing ministry formation with Radia.  The tapes also feature several other top journalists being hand fed by Radia on the kind of stories she wants to appear on major news papers. "

Hours of work

Ramdev Vani
=========

- The number of hours one should work in a day should be equal to the HB (Hemoglobin count in blood) one has.

- The weight of a person should be equal to the height of that person in inches .

PImples

Yesterday Ramdev suggested a treatment for pimples on the face.

Break the branch (leave) of an aloe-vera plant so that the white liquid comes out. Put that liquid on the forehead and massage for 2-3 mins. All the pimples will go away after some days.

US Hypocracy

Watching analysis of Obama visit to India on "Times  Now"

- Happy to see how US think tank was ripped apart by Arnav Goswami on the point of double face of Pakis.
Was nice to see helplessness on american's face.

- Times  Now focussed on hard questions like if US wants India to help her in creating jobs in US then what US is going to offer to India...some of the things can be...pressure on Pakis, transfer of technologies for weapons etc

But NDTV is focusing  on 'emotional connect'. The host on NDTV is Barkha Dutt whose upper portion of the body above her head is completely vacant. Only a naive and stupid will talk about emotions to cunning, clever, selfish, shrewd self-serving, arrogant american politicians.

Colonial hangover

how do we know that we are no longer suffering from colonial hangover

- when we respect the person, who knows Hindi or whatever regional language is spoken in his/her state more than the person who knows english

- when we encourage the person who speaks english to learn at least one Indian language

- when we understand that an italian waitress is no match for many other Indian leaders and obsession with 1 family ends

- when a poor person of our country (who drives rickshaw  or work as maid, sweeper etc) gets the same respect  as we show to some stupid foreigner visiting India.

- when people like kartina kaif or Jacqueline Fernandez etc can not earn huge money from India without knowing Hindi

- when a north Indian or south Indian feel better about learning tamil or Hindi than learning english.

River pollution

In this age when rivers are too much polluted already, Sharad Yadav gave a statement which i don't agree with at all. He suggested to throw Rahul Italian Gandhi in holy Ganga.

He does not know it will pollute our holy river for ages and we will be committing a horrible sin by throwing a

- vision-less (at even 40 rahul has not mentioned even 1 vision statement for India),
- brainless (how many questions he has asked in the parliament..not even 1),
- courageless (why has  he not spoken against CWG corruption, when he knows all congress leaders,  most of which do not have self-respect and many are old enough to be his father, are ready to sit at  his feet )
- cheap publicity hungry (jumping security, well..why he needs security in first place)

creature in eternal flowing Ganga.

I thought I would never write about politics but creatures like rahul, whose mother is from italy and girl friend is from columbia and whose sister's father in law was found dead in  mysterious circumstances make my blood boil. Of course not to mention a case in amethi which he and his family never want people to know.

AppleVs RIM (blackberry company)
Apple Vs Adobe
and many more....

The war for innovations is heating up...and the land of innovations is again USA...no matter how much I hate US politicians and their short-sightedness, the entrepreneurs and innovators are respected., made rich and are created in the land of USA.

Wish our India becomes like that..the country where such qualities are rewarded...

ironing

the person who irons my clothes spoiled 3 clothes of mine :(

Paradox

There is only 1 barber in a village. He does shave only those people who never shave themselves.

Will he shave himself?

OS

Have been using Ubuntu  (free OS) at home desktop for last 3 months. It is working great. Don't need XP pr any windows OS anymore. Moreover, the games (free) are quite  good too

Vaccination

Today a Homeopathic doctor told us something, kids get vaccinated at different times...and generally after vaccination they get some fever...we should not give fever medicines that time to kids...it effects their immunity...

Power

Sometimes I wonder,

there is a perfection in the cycles of days and night, in the cycle of seasons, the cycle of year, the planet system. There is not even a fraction of error anywhere. Such even fractional error would have been devastating for whole humanity.

Who can create such perfection, something to think over? But still we live with our large egos.

Vedanta

Saw a documentary on NDTV today. I guess it was made by some reporter from London. NDTV might have purchased the telecast rights for it.

The reporter went to Orissa jungles, at the place where vedanta (a company) wanted to setup their mining operations. The jungle was so beautiful and people there (the tribal people) were happy too. They mentioned that they have everything and do not need anything else.

The shots taken from that place resembled a lot from Avatar movie. Maybe it was intentional to indicate that here too, in Orissa, a profit hungry organization wants to setup operation by displacing native people and by destroying nature.

Luckily, some weeks back Indian govt has withdrawn vedanta 's license to mine there.

Imagination

That bright sparkling beautiful face,
The silky hairs like infinity of space
The shining diamond in your necklace,
Smiling and proud at its fortunate fate

The whimsical eyes yet full of compassion,
The fingers like crafted out of passion,
Your presence gives the world its meaning,
Makes one doubt if its real or dreaming,

Everything around you is full of life,
Makes the nature come all alive,
The universe moves with your walk of grace,
Your gazing creates an intense craze

Are you real or an imagined fantasy,
Dawn upon me and take me to Ecstasy.

Meaning

Sometimes we use words without knowing their real meanings. I used to think 'हर हर महादेव' used to mean praising Lord Shiva. But while reading 'Immortals ......' I came to know that it means 'Everybody is Mahadev' .

Ideal Bharat

There is an underlying movement going on in India about making India
corruption free,
terrorism free,
place where women are respected,
having plenty and equal job opportunities for every citizen,
severely punishing the culprits of unforgivable crimes.

I sincerely wish they succeed. As hope is getting lost with parasitic natured politicians at the helm.

Immortals of Meluha

Ordered 'Immortals of Meluha' from infibeam. Got it yesterday. The reviews about this book had been good. Will read this weekend to see how Lord Shiva's story has been conveyed in this fiction novel.

Professional colleges

Just finished reading "Keep off the grass" by Karam Bajaj. It is somewhat similar to "5 point someone" (remember 3 idiots movie) by Chetan Bhagat.

The common theme is that in our professional institutes the system is quite screwed up. Students are treated worse than donkeys as they are loaded with tutorials, very frequent mid semester exams etc. Classmates turn backstabber as they want to secure more marks than you. Creativity is discouraged and learning by rote is encouraged.

I see myself in the main characters of the above 2 novels as I was also sort of rebel to the system. Though not to the extreme extent. Barring a very few, I never made rather could not make friends in the college...almost the whole batch was full of selfish, cunning, rote learning donkeys, moving-up-by-crushing-your-head type of people.

I have seen strange creatures in my engineering college......maybe I should write about them here..it can become good case studies on weird human behaviors ...maybe some day... :-)

Random scraps

True Relationship

A true relationship is
..... where there is wish to give...and never ever any expectation for reward or taking...sacrifice is the foundation
..... which can withstand the hammer of time...the time...brings joys...sorrows..dull...good ..bad days...
..... where understanding happens without the usage of words
..... where you look back at the time...and feel your life's moments could not have been spent better
..... where you can sit with each other...and never feel the need to speak
..... where you never think about 'me' ...'my'...'mine'
more later ....

Innovations

The innovations have been taking place at a quite rapid pace. US has been at the fore-front of it. Who could imagine internet 15-20 years back and the business impact of it?

Right now innovations like creating a life artificially, where man played God, iPad (not iPod), softwares which can run without an OS and much more...are going to have far reaching consequences in very near future.

Why India, with much more intellectual capital, can not be at the forefront of innovation? We need an ecosystem for where creativity is rewarded and govt stays away from lives of people and act is enabler rather then enforcer.

Things we want to do

There are certain things we want to do in our lives, other than the work which we do in our jobs. These things interest us because we liked when we read about them or saw them first..or we could not do because no money is earned in doing those or we think we are not capable of doing those...or we have other things of higher priority to do... If I were to make list of these things...it will be like below...think about yours...it is good to think about things which you want or once wanted to do in your lives....

My list....

1) Do Ph.D. in Sanskrit
2) Write a world famous Science fiction novel
3) Make a movie about strong sense of survival amongst women ( ;-) ) ...
4) Do Ph.D. in Maths
5) Read 4 Vedas and Upanishads
6) Make a very big business empire...which adds values to the society...

and the list goes on......................... !!!

CommonWealth Games

Why are we still part of common wealth games?

". Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the patron of the Games and HRH The Earl of Wessex CVO is the Vice patron" ...

why do we need to participate in games whose patron is queen of england ?

IPL - Lalit Modi

I like Lalit Modi for what he has created. I feel angry about forcing him to leave. He had a vision and had strength to fulfill it.

The people ( BCCI ;-) ) who could not pocket money into their pockets wanted Modi out. Now they got chance to achieve it and they did it.

I wonder where Sharad Pawar keeps the huge money that he has been earning thru the corruption like.arbitrarily inflating the sugar prices, IPL scam etc. By seeing his body...I am sure some of it is bound to be in his big..very big ...fat tummy...

Hope

How will a life be without hope? A person's endeavor is tested again and again by the nature....to make sure only the worthy gets the sweet fruits. It is only the hope with propels the human spirit to overcome the adversities.

Very often we tend to get diverted by the troubles that we loose focus of the target...e.g. a jealous mad person we meet distract us quite often...we get mad that him/her rather than ignoring him/her which s/he deserves.

Off from work

Took off from work today. Had to be awake at night....thought that I can manage to work in the morning with the less sleep I would have....but ....the force of sleep was so hard that ...i planned to sleep for 10 mins at 7am but got up only at 11 am.

Now at 5PM, I feel relaxed. I feel that for so many days I was dragging myself ....I needed this rest.

Mental slavery

If one needs a proof that more than 200 years of being under foreign rulers has made us mentally slave....then give a thought about why 'jan gan man' is our national anthem. If one knows why it was created in first place..then a true Indian will feel angry about it.

What happened to our self-respect ?

Mossad's new success

Another feather in the cap of Mossad.

http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/19/mission-impossible-dubai/?hp

With previous successes like eliminating terrorists responsible for 1972 Olympic Massacre and Operations like Entebbe, Mossad remains one of the most competitive, aggressive, fearsome secret service organization in the world.

Quote from above link ->

Commentary’s Noah Pollak takes aim at those who feel the operation was compromised. “The people calling the operation ’sloppy’ and a ‘debacle’ seem to actually believe that the Mossad is unaware that there are video cameras in airports and hotels today, or that the passport photos of the agents would not be revealed to the public,” he writes. “More important, the fact of the matter is that the team got into Dubai, rubbed out a bad guy, and got out. No drama, nobody was captured, and nobody knows the real identities of the team or where they are now. Given the extraordinary risk and complexity of the operation, that’s a win in my book. And now the Iranians, Syrians, and their terrorist clients have been given another reminder that their people aren’t safe anywhere — even in the heart of the Arab world.”

Nine Lives

Reading 'Nine Lives' by William Dalrymple. Its a nice book about nine people from different spectrum of life in India.

Interesting revelations about dead-body skull eaters in West Bengal. And their supposedly powers. Another interesting character, a MBA working in FMCG in Mumbai, shuns everything and become sanyasi. He takes this decision in a fraction of second.

Dalrymple has good repository of knowledge about India.

Another book I had read which was as interesting as this is 'Holy Cow' by Sarah McDonald.

Songs Lyrics

"shining in the sun, like a pearl upon da ocean.
come n feel me..come n heal me.

hua jo tu bhi mera mera..tera jo iqraar hua...
to kyu naa main bhi keh doon keh doon..
hua mujhe bhi pyar hua..

tera hone laga hoon, khone laga hoon, jabse mila hoon...

tera hone laga hoon, khone laga hoon, jabse mila hoon.

shining in the sun, like a pearl upon da ocean.
come n feel me..come n heal me.

.
waise to mann mera , pehle bhi raato mein, aksar hi chahat ke haan...sapne sanjota tha....

pehle bhi dhadkan ye, dhun koi gaati thi, par ab jo hota hai...wo pehle naa hota tha..

hua hai tujhe jo bhi jo bhi, mujhe bhi iss baar huwa..to kyu naa main bhi keh doo.. keh doo.huwa mujhe bhi pyar huwa...

tera hone laga hoon, khone laga hoon, jabse mila hoon...

tera hone laga hoon, khone laga hoon, jabse mila hoon.

shining in the shade ov sun, like a pearl upon da ocean.
come n feel me..come heal me.
thinkin bout da lubing ,making n liking sharing.
come n feel me..come heal me.."

Ideal Day

Select one day of the week or month wherein you commit to yourself that you will speak truth the whole day no matter what, will not do any loose talk, will not do or think about violence and anger (There are 84 types of violence. Even the thought of harming anyone is considered violence). If possible try to help someone. Block out any bad, immoral, unethical, negative thought from the mind and control your senses.

After doing this exercise for whole day, there will arise a sacred, very enjoyable and satisfactory feeling in the heart. One will wonder if such heavenly experience ever existed.

Clean stomach

Having honey and half lemon mixed with lukewarm water as first thing in the morning helps in stomach problems. It should be taken before going to rest room. It also helps in getting rid of the urge to have tea/coffee.

Sites

Buying a domain name and developing a site is easier than I thought. Even yahoo, rediff etc have services to buy domain names and host your site.

I bought my site from justhost.com. Using it for last 4-5 months. Their services has been good and prompt. As of now it just hosts static html pages. But I plan to build some business intelligence. I paid around 5K per year for this site. I am told by their customer service that renewal after 1 year will be discounted.

The thing I don't like about justhost is that they provide only RUBY, ROR (Ruby on Rails) and PHP frameworks to develop business applications. Yahoo is even worse, they provide only PHP. Coming from java/j2ee background, I wish they support at least Grails if not jee (j2ee).

For jee (jsp , servlet etc) there is a site called eatj.com. I can host my jee applications (war and ear files) free there . They provide mysql database too. But I read the free hosting is limited and eatj.com is suffixed with the site name. For example, site name would be like skhurana.eatj.com. This is fine for learning and playing around.

I wonder if there a is business opportunity for me as I can develop and maintain sites :-) ?

Periodic works

We have to do so many periodic repeated things in a week / month / year that its easy to forget and skip. For example, every month electricity bill, credit card bill etc have to be paid. In Bangalore, if you forget to pay electricity bill on time BESCOM will disconnect the power connection without even a single warning.

Then you have school fees for kids, insurance premiums payments and so on. Having lots of work in office makes you forget these easily. I found a simple solution for this.

I have google account. I created events in google calendar. I get an email reminding me of these one day before I have to take action on it. So less chance of me skipping these. For yearly payments e.g. insurance premium payments I repeat the event yearly on particular dates.

And yes, I added calendar widget to igoogle so that I see tasks as soon as I open the browser.

Now I don't have worry about forgetting such tasks.
